NEW World Handicapping System begins November 2020

NEW World Handicapping System begins November 2020
For some time now the Club has been preparing for the introduction of the new World Handicapping System (WHS) with the intention of sharing the detail with members and offering some educational events.

One such presentation took place in mid-March when I provided an outline of the new system to approx 50 Seniors. However, after lockdown it was decided to postpone further publicity until we started playing golf again.

As we now move to qualifying scores for handicap purposes (message to members on 5th June “Handicap Qualifying Competitions and Supplementary Scores from June 15th” ), it is now appropriate to raise awareness of the new WHS. The message sent on 5th June can also be accessed on the Members section of the Club website.

We have created a Bracken Ghyll Golf Club dedicated WHS webpage for our members on our website and this can be accessed using this link:
https://bracken.greengoneblue.co.uk/world-handicap-system/

In addition to a summary overview covering all the main elements and how they fit together, there are links to:
– additional resources, including Frequently Asked Questions, and
– a series of useful and easy to follow videos produced by England Golf.

I recommend that after reading the overview you look at the videos which put the information in context.
