Member Guest restriction ended…..and more news!
This is just a brief update for members from your Management Committee:

MEMBERSHIP

Many golf clubs nationally have benefitted from the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic i.e. no cricket, football, rugby etc and Bracken Ghyll is no exception.

To that end the Club welcomed 29 new members in July and now has a record number of 7 day members (2020-326, 2019-265. Plus 23%). Total membership in all playing categories is 533 (2020) v 429 (2019). Plus 24%.

Your Committee has had no discussions and has no current plans to introduce limits in any membership category.

MEMBER GUESTS

The 1pm restriction for member guests has now been lifted. However for pace of play reasons members are requested NOT to book member guests in tee slots before the start of competition on competition days.

TEE-BOOKING LEAD TIME

Just a reminder that the lead time for tee-booking has now been extended from 5 to 14 days.

CLUBHOUSE

The Club is now managing the bar ‘in-house’ and George and his team are becoming well and truly established. The early financial performance is also very encouraging.

Your House Committee is also keeping our catering offer and the government’s relevant COVID guidance under constant review but if you smell bacon butties any day soon please don’t assume these could be for you.

In order to sustain the Club’s image and reputation we will be honouring visiting party bookings made before the COVID lockdown which included a food component e.g. tea/coffee & bacon butty before play and/or hot meal after.

NO SECTION AGM’S

In the light of current guidance and the local lockdown all three sections of the Club (Men, Ladies and Seniors) have agreed not to hold section AGMs this year and that their current officers will remain in post for another 12 months unless in exceptional circumstances.

CLUB AGM, Thursday 12th November

The Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will have to be held in some form to comply with company law e.g. to formally adopt the accounts. There are also a number of significant Officer positions to be elected as below:
* Vice-President
* Secretary
* Treasurer
* Chair of Green
* Chair of House
* Chair of Marketing
* Membership Secretary

The form of the AGM will be discussed at the next meeting of your Management Committee on 24th August but should you be interested in any of the above positions please advise the Secretary at secretary@brackenghyll.co.uk

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST – THOSE REMINDERS…..

* Please do NOT congregate around the clubhouse entrance, in the entry corridor or on the patio. Be aware of social distancing at all times.
* Face coverings MUST be worn in the Pro-Shop.
* Use the hand sanitiser both before and after your round and on entry to the clubhouse.
* The changing rooms MUST NOT BE USED for changing golf clothing or footwear. This must be done in the car park. Use of the changing rooms is for access to the toilets and wash hand basins only.

And that’s about it for now.

Play safe and stay safe and please don’t hesitate to contact me as below should you need any further information or clarification.
