Junior Section Update
Its Major Time!!
Last weekend saw the first junior major of the year, the Committee Cup. We also ran the Daily Telegraph competition alongside this which had prizes for the best gross, best net and a nearest the pin.
The winner of the Committee Cup and the Daily Telegraph Net Prize was Mr Junior Captain himself Fin Robertson with a Gross 75 Net 65 and a new handicap of 9 – well done Fin. The runner up and winner of the best gross was Will Mawson: Gross 74 Net 66. Will also won nearest the pin on the 13th hole.
A special mention goes to Ethan Watson – playing off a handicap of 39 and one of our younger members. Ethan scored a Net 64 but as the Committee Cup and Daily Telegraph require a maximum handicap of 28 his score converted to a Net 75 – Ethan, check your new handicap, your dad will be looking over his shoulder. Showing great sportsmanship, Will Mawson donated one of his prizes to Ethan in recognition of his great score. Well done everyone for playing, some great scores and fantastic team spirit throughout the junior section.
Junior League
Last Friday we played our first fixture of the season against Bingley St Ives. After Harry Parker dropped out ill late in the afternoon, Henry Croft kindly stepped in. So a team of Henry Croft, Will Mawson and Fin Robertson went to battle.
Unfortunately our anchor man Henry fell to a 2/1, Will Mawson ground out a 4/2 and Fin Robertson found giving 14 shots hard going to an inspired Bingley 3rd man tough going and went down 3/2 . Hard luck guys. We go again!
Next match is against Cleckheaton and is pencilled in for the weekend of the 21st May. Squad TBC.
Steve Pelkowski & Alex Mawson
