Junior Masters Week 2017
Well what a week of golf. It was fantastic to see 15 of our juniors back on the course after a season struggling through exams resulting in a low turnout earlier in the year.
During the Masters week we have 3 Trophies up for grabs.
The first was the Four Quarters played during Round 2 of the Masters. This was won by Josh Brooks, a special mention goes to Adam Haw for scoring a net 62 in only his second competitive round. Well done guys.
The Gledhill Trophy is awarded to the lowest combined Gross score for the week, this would be hotly contested between Will Mawson, Henry Croft and Fin Robertson. Will’s second round of 84 ended his chances which left Henry and Fin to fight it out on the last day with a single shot separating them. Henry’s 74 including an Eagle 2 on the 4th set the marker, but Fin returned an impressive Gross 73 to win by 2 shots. 4 scores under 75 is pretty impressive I am sure you will agree.
So to the Junior Master of 2017. 10 shots separated the top 7 players on the last day. Matt Hastings was the biggest mover of the day scoring 8 under par for a total of 266. But it was our Junior Captain Fin who held his nerve and scored a net 66 for a total of 264 to claim the prize. Great stuff Fin in your last season as a junior.
Well done to everyone, 16 shots were reduced from handicaps over the week. Matt Hastings being the biggest reduction of 7 shots taking him from 24 handicap to 17.
BIG thanks to Mr Captain for his help this week, Pel for doing the cards and James Webster for his valuable help as always. Well done also to all the green staff as the course remains for another year in fantastic condition.
