the stroke index for each hole is not an indication of difficulty.
Whilst stroke index is used in stroke play competitions, stroke index is of paramount importance for match play competition to ensure that there is an even spread of the strokes to be received at all handicap differences over the 18 holes.
BGGC has followed the CONGU Unified Handicapping System guidance in determining the appropriate stroke index for both the front 9 and back 9 holes.
There is no indication that the current Stroke Index will be changed as we move to the new World Handicapping System in November.
