Membership Update

Membership Update
In response to many questions around membership and the impact of the current COVID-19 situation on the club’s well-being your Management Committee is pleased to advise that as of 1st July:

* Total golf membership (excluding staff and Juniors U12) is 511 – an increase of 80 (19%) over the corresponding date last year;

* The total number of 7-day members is 274, a 20% increase on the same date last year.

* Many of our new members are (young!) Intermediates i.e. 18 – 35 years of age, of which we now have over 80 – a warm welcome to you all.

Your Committee is also aware that a significant number of members are currently working from home or on furlough and are therefore able to play golf more often than usual. Also we have some new members who are temporarily and unexpectedly back at home but expect to be returning to their permanent home in due course.

This unique situation, together with the number of new members above, helps explain the present pressure on tee-times.

Your Committee expect the situation to ‘relax’ gradually as more members return either to work or education and other sports such as cricket and tennis get back up and running e.g. village cricket starts again this weekend.

This makes it a very fluid situation and one that none of us has ever experienced before. However please be assured that your Management Committee is keeping matters under constant review and will always make decisions that it believes to be in the best interests of the club and its members.

Finally, thank you for your continuing support – it is very much appreciated – and please don’t hesitate to ask should you need any further information or clarification.

Play safe and stay safe.
