Additional Local Rules effective from 12th April until further notice. (Handicap Qualifying Competitions and Scores are permitted with these in place):

Flagstick
It must not be touched or removed and a ball is considered as “holed” if any part of the ball is below the surface of the putting green. The hole inserts permit this.

1. PREFERRED LIES

When a player’s ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area.

• Reference point: spot of the original ball
• Size of Relief Area measured from Reference Point: 6 inches but with these limits:
  • Limits on Location of Relief Area:
    • Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
    • Must be in the general area.

In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14-2b(2) and 14-2e.

2. CLEANING THE BALL
When a player’s ball lies in the general area the ball may be lifted, cleaned and replaced without penalty. The player must mark the spot before lifting the ball (see Rule 14-1) and the ball must be replaced on its original spot, (see Rule 14-2)

3. PREFERRED LIES IN BUNKERS
You may place your ball within SIX INCHES of the original spot, not nearer the hole, but still within the bunker. The relief area CANNOT be smoothed before placing. Please then make your best effort to smooth the sand using a club and/or your feet

4. NEW DRAINAGE CHANNELS ON 1ST HOLE (Right hand side)
If a player’s ball lies on or touches the new drainage channels on the right hand side on the First Hole, or drainage channels interfere with the player’s stance, the player may take relief under Rule 16.1d.
(Free Relief – Reference point is the nearest point of complete relief and a one club-length relief area)

1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18-2)
A ball is Out of Bounds when it is beyond any wall or fence defining the boundary of the Course or:- a) On the left of the 18th hole defined by white posts. b) On, or beyond the access road and in or on the Clubhouse buildings, car park, patio and surrounding area. c) On the practise area defined by walls. d) Beyond the fence on the right of the 9th & 11th holes.

2. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
Red Penalty Areas are defined by red stakes.Yellow Penalty Areas are defined by yellow stakes.

3. No Play Zones
The following are No Play Zones:-
Young Trees identified by stakes, plastic tubes or mesh. If such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.1f

4. Integral Objects
All internal stone walls and buildings are integral parts of the course. The ball must be played as it lies, or penalty relief taken under Rule 19 (Ball Unplayable).

5. Paths
All paths are immovable obstructions from which a player may take relief without penalty.

6. Overhead Wires/Cables
If it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit overhead wires, supporting pole, supporting wires, fittings or warning signs during play of holes 10 & 11, the stroke does not count. The player must play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made. (See Rule 14.6 for what to do).

7. Drop Zone; Hole 17
The path to the left of the green at Hole 17 is an Immovable Obstruction from which a player may take relief without penalty. If a player elects to take relief, he or she may drop a ball in the Drop Zone provided.

PENALTY CLAUSE
Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of Local Rules;
General penalty; Match play – Loss of Hole. Stroke play – 2 strokes.

Players must not climb walls or fences.
Players are reminded that members of the public using the Public Rights of Way which cross the 4th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 13th & 16th fairways, and the 10th green, and which run alongside the 11th, 12th & 16th fairways, shall be given priority.

Scorecard yardages are from the markerstones (which can be found at the edges of the tees) to the centre of the green. 150-yd & 100-yd markers on the course show the distance to the centre of the green.
