The safety of our members and staff continues to be our highest priority and we have now put in place appropriate systems and processes to enable a phased re-introduction of Qualifying Competitions and submission of cards for handicap purposes. We continue to comply with the most recent guidance from government, the R&A and CONGU and Section Captains will shortly be notifying forthcoming competitions which will commence from 15th June. 1. Scorecards a) Record your own scores and on completion of the round verbally agree/verify your scores with your marker and record the name of the marker on your card. There is no need for the marker to sign the card. b) Sign your card and post it in the Competition Box in the clubhouse foyer. If the clubhouse is locked then post the card in the box on the wall adjacent to the porch. Returning scores electronically is not currently available. 2. Additional Local Rules effective until further notice. Handicap Qualifying Competitions and Scores are permitted with these in place: a) Flagstick b) Bunkers – Preferred Lies allowed c) Relief from Cracks in the Ground 3. Competitions a) After booking a tee-time, entry to a competition is made by email to the relevant email address below notifying your intention to participate. b) Receipt of the intention to participate email will be deemed to be an agreement from the entrant for the club to deduct the relevant competition entry fee from the entrant’s club card account. c) Competition Results will be published on HowDidIDo, on the club website (www.brackenghyllgolfclub.co.uk) ), in Perfect Lie and on Facebook. d) Card Top Up can be made in the following ways: 4. Supplementary Scores a) Notify the Pro Shop of your intention to submit a Supplementary Score on the day, either by phone or in person. There is no charge, but a record is kept. b) Ensure that the scorecard is noted “Supplementary Score” showing the date, and the name of the marker and signed by the player. c) Men to play off yellow markers and Ladies off red markers. d) All cards must be returned as set out in 1. above. 5. George Auterson Why and How to get a Competition Handicap ‘NEW TO GOLF’ MEMBERS and those coming back to golf require an official CONGU Competition Handicap (see below) to enter club competitions. Note: Associate Members need an official CONGU handicap to compete in SOGO and ‘designated competitions’. GENTLEMEN should submit EITHER a minimum of 3 cards over 18 holes OR 6 cards over 9 holes, labelled ‘For Handicap’ and stapled together, each showing a gross medal score which is at or below 125 played from the yellow tees. Cards should be marked by a member with a CONGU handicap and posted in the competition box in the clubhouse. LADIES should play from the red tees and submit EITHER a minimum of 3 cards over 18 holes OR 6 cards over 9 holes, labelled ‘For Handicap’ and stapled together. There is no gross score limit. Cards should be marked by a member with a CONGU handicap and posted in the competition box in the clubhouse. JUNIORS should contact Club Pro, Mark Tyler, who can give a ‘club’ handicap based on observation. This allows juniors to enter club Junior competitions only. To obtain an official CONGU Competition Handicap, a junior should follow the rules outlined above as appropriate. PLAYERS WITH ‘NON-COMPETITION’ HANDICAPS should provide 3 cards on a qualifying course to gain a Competition Handicap. They may submit supplementary cards by playing on a qualifying course or in qualifying 9 or 18 hole medal or stableford competitions without payment of the entry fee i.e. they cannot win the competition. Cards must be marked by a member with a CONGU handicap and marked as ‘Supplementary’. |
