Shortly before the World Handicapping System (WHS) went live on 2nd November we advised you that because your BGGC WHS Team were unable to provide you with adequate assurances that members’ Handicap Indexes (HI) were reliable, the Management Committee had agreed to defer adoption of the new system. Since then, we have worked closely with both England Golf and our software provider Club Systems to attempt to resolve several anomalies. You may have seen from various social media channels and the press that there have been many “teething problems” during the transition process. Working collaboratively with the small England Golf WHS team, we have achieved a fix for the score importation data relating to our Yellow and Seniors courses. Seniors will now see their competition scores reflect the correct Course Rating of 66.5 (previously imported with a CR of 72). The outcome is that the former indicative HI which was artificially low is now corrected. Complications relating to importing Supplementary Scores have also been resolved. However in a small number of cases we may need to make ad-hoc adjustments. Similarly, in a small number of cases “Away Course” scores imported using an incorrect Course Rating will require adjustment. It has not yet been possible to correct the Course Rating 72 wrongly applied to scores imported for former Silsden GC members. This has been escalated further within England Golf to apply a fix. We have also established that issues have been identified relating to the automatic synchronisation of data between England Golf and software providers. This is resulting in a delay or in some cases missing data across systems. So, your HI with England Golf may temporarily not match the Club Systems and HDID figure. A very small number of members may not be able to see their HI via HDID yet. So, all in all it has been a busy week, but as you can see your BGGC Team is striving to resolve these issues, and all being well, before we get back to playing golf. Take care and stay safe.
